Joyful Repentance for Being to the Praise of God Glory (Eph. 1:12)
(Meaning, motivation, and energy coming from God)
…(Your name), listen to what you are saying. Let yourself believe, love, and be thankful for the truth!
…I repent of living for the sake of praise toward my human glory. I repent of filling up my falling short apart from the nearness of God’s glory. Thank You, God, that by my cutting off the option of finding glory from idolatry and sin, my faith can be stronger for receiving from You. Thank You, that because of Your desire to be God to me here, I can turn my heart to enjoy the emotional benefits of depending on Your nearness rather than sin. Thank You, God, that when I turn my heart to trust Your presence is a shield of cleansing holiness around me, holy living becomes practical. Thank You, God, I praise You that I can be to the praise of Your glory, and honor You as my God in this way.
…Heart, Jesus “…said to the paralytic, ‘Get up, pick up your bed and go home’…and he got up and went home. But when the crowds saw this, they were awestruck, and glorified God…” (Matt. 9:6-8). So when I repent of praising myself, I must not shut myself down from glory altogether. Heart, I must make declarations that help me open up to God and His glory coming onto me here. I must boldly embrace that the better I get at receiving the kingdom, standing before the Lord, and looking with faith at the greatness of God’s glory before me, the better I can get at causing God to be honored and praised.
…Heart, I can live to the praise of His glory (Eph. 1:12) because it says to “…glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh” (Phil. 3:3). God is glorified by my receiving the kingdom with gratitude while trusting that Jesus with me will glorify the Father.
…Instead of enjoying pride in myself and dependence on earthly sources, my childlike love, enjoyment, and utter dependence on God to draw near and be God to me greatly honors and glorifies Him. I am turning my heart to enjoy that I can honor God and cause Him to feel pleasure in this way (Heb. 11:6)!
Heart, hear a similar verse: “…the crowd marveled as they saw the mute speaking, the crippled restored, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel” (Matt. 15:31). I, too can glorify the Father by my joyful declarations directing my heart to confidently believe like a child that the presence of God’s healing power is within, upon, and all around me here.
…Heart, I must let myself believe about receiving the kingdom so I can abide in Him because “..he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5); and, “…My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit…” (John 15:8); “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13).
…Thank You, Lord, that I can find motivation and energy on a human level through faith that I can exalt and honor You by confidence about Your healing power being present within and around me here. By faith, I set my heart to trust that my activities and worship are causing God’s glory to be praised. I set my heart to enjoy that I am being to the praise of God’s glory in unseen realms and here.

MORE
…Heart, my childlike love and praise, exalts and honors God in the heavenly realms. People glorify God when they get healed! So, I am determined to align my thinking with the Word of God by joyfully thanking God until I can freely receive the kingdom like a child and keep looking at the radiance from Him upon me here. Heart, by this, God’s presence, is here with power for healing and miracles. When my heart believes the abundance of God’s healing power in me and around me, God is honored and praised by people here!
…Thank You, Lord, for the eternal significance of being able to cause Your glory to be praised. By salvation, Christ abides in me. I abide in Him when I set my heart to trust God that the heavenly kingdom is coming down upon and around me and that I am before You here. Heart, by keeping my eyes of faith on the radiance that shines from God upon me, His living and active healing power is upon and around me here.
…Heart, when my focus gets distracted from looking at the Lord, I declare to the ears of my heart that God’s glory and power upon and around me is far greater than any earthly glory or power I could ever be distracted by or want.
…Heart, I can be used by God because it forwards His Kingdom when I turn away from human glory, and I quench my thirst with the radiant glory, power, holiness, and beauty that shines from God. Thank You, God, that I can receive the kingdom like a child by receiving so I can take refuge in You: “…the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light” (Ps. 36:7-9).
…Thank You, God, that my childlike dependence on You to come to me as my refuge honors and exalts You in heavenly realms before angelic and demonic rulers and authorities, even when nobody here sees (Eph. 3:10; Eph. 6:12). The more I turn my heart away from earthly and human ways of finding refuge, the more confident I get in trusting like a child that Heaven is coming down around me and the “Spirit of glory” (1 Peter 4:14; John 7:39; Gal. 3:14) is around me here as my strong refuge (Ps. 36:7-9). So heart, I greatly exalt and honor God when “I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!’” (Psa. 91:2).
…Thank You, God! It is proper for me to trust that You are clothing me with Your presence so I can give testimony about Your kingdom (Luke 24:29; Acts 1:8). Jesus said He would “clothe” us “…with power from on high” (Luke 24:29), and, when talking about God clothing us, He said, “…seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Mat. 6:31-33). So heart, when I direct my heart into bold faith about the kingdom of Heaven coming to me and keep my eyes of faith on God and His glory around me, it is right for me to trust that I can glorify God because His Living power and love are here with me here.
MORE
…Heart, I can be part of what causes God’s glory to be praised because God wants to use me to produce fruit: God tells me to “…glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh” (Phi. 3:3); and, “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples” (John 15:8). I only have to direct my heart into faith about receiving because we “…must believe…that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” (Heb. 11:6). I set my heart to treasure that God wants to use me to produce spiritual fruit that honors Him and furthers His kingdom on earth. I will not hold back in believing and enjoying this truth.
…Heart, by joyous declarations of repentance and faith, I am removing obstacles (Isa. 57:14) and making a highway for God so that His glory can be revealed on the earth (Isa. 40:3-5). By directing my heart away from idolatry and toward faith in God (1 Sam. 7:3), it gets easier for me to believe in the radiant glory of God and receive it because “…the Lord God is a sun and shield; / The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Ps. 84:11).
…Heart, “…the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ…” (2 Cor. 4:4); and, Jesus said, “How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?” (John 5:44). So, I thank You, God, that I can greatly honor You with declarations that direct my heart away from receiving glory from other people, the world, and myself. I am determined to enjoy and treasure that I am honoring God by fighting my disbelief and building my faith so I can more easily stand before God and drink from the Living radiance that shines from Him (John 7:39; John 5:44; Ps. 84:11; 1 Chron. 29:11).
…I am being to the praise of God’s glory when I build my faith and let myself enjoy that I CAN “…let justice roll down like waters And righteousness like an ever-flowing stream” (Amo. 5:24).
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; lovingkindness and truth go before You” (Psa. 89:14).
…Heart, God is making this happen, “There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace…To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness…The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this” (Isa. 9:7). But I can help because Jesus said to seek His kingdom so that God’s will can be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Matt. 6:33; Matt. 6:10). Thank You, God, that I can live to the praise of Your glory (Eph. 1:12), not mine.
…Salvation is vital because that is what justifies us before God for eternity in Heaven with God (Rom. 8:33). But it also says, “In the Lord all the offspring of Israel will be justified and will glory” (Isa 45:25). So heart, the more I honor God by declarations that turn my heart away from idolatry and sin, the more “…the nations will bless themselves in Him, and in Him they will glory” (Jer. 4:2).
MORE
…I turn from the meaninglessness of living to the praise of my glory (Eph. 1:12). Lord, I delight that I can exalt and honor You by my dependence on You as my refuge, glory, and strength. I praise You, Lord. (pause to let yourself feel human energy and motivation, from the eternal significance of your exalting God in the heavenly realm AND HERE!)
…Heart, God says, “…all the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord” (Num. 14:21); “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Hab. 2:14). By receiving the radiance from the Fountain of God (Jer. 2:11-13), I can greatly honor God by doing my part in helping fill the earth with the glory that shines from Him.
…Because of standing before the Lord, my praise and childlike dependence on God exalts Him in spiritual realms before many witnesses. Around me, HERE is a great audience watching me honor God, even when nobody here sees: “…we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us…” (Heb. 11 and 12:1); and these “witnesses” surrounding me include “…rulers… world forces of…darkness …spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12); “the twenty-four elders…” (Rev. 4:10); And, “…many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was…thousands of thousands…” (Rev. 5:11); “…the four living creatures…do not cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.'” (Rev. 4:8). (pause to let yourself feel energy and motivation, from knowing the significance of your exalting and honoring God!)
…I am directing my heart to treasure that I can cooperate with God in directing my heart toward faith so I can become a place for God to dwell: “…you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord” (Eph. 2:19-21)“…The holy dwelling places of the Most High” (Psalm 46:4).
..By declarations that get my heart to believe about drinking from God, I can be a witness to the availability of God’s glory by faith in His grace (Ps. 84:11). I praise You, God, that I don’t have to honor myself by being a witness about the glory I earn by works from the little “gods” of this world: “For God…has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves” (2 Cor. 4:6,7).
…Thank You, Lord, for the eternal significance of being able to cause Your glory to be praised. I set my heart to enjoy trusting that God’s holiness, power, and love are here and that He is working in me and those around me because of it.
…Heart, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Phil. 1:21). I can find motivation and energy on a human level by faith that my dependence on God and my praise exalts and honors God significantly. Heart, by the quality of my abiding and staying before the Lord so I can look at Him, I am being to the praise of God’s glory in heavenly realms. I am being to the praise of His glory here in this realm.
MORE
…Heart, I show my love for God by helping to remove obstacles in myself so that others can see the value of quenching their thirst by ‘drinking’ from the Fountain of the Father’s glory instead of from the twisted glory we get from the world and sin. Heart, “…it will be said, ‘Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstacle out of the way of My people” (Isa. 57:14). But, “…the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ…” (2 Cor. 4:4); And, “How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?” (John 5:44). So, heart, we must help people to remove the obstacles by a joyous repentance that helps us all believe and experience that we can “…put on the armor of light…put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts” (Rom. 13:12, 14); we must align our own faith with God’s Word and then also help people know and experience that “…the Lord God is a sun and shield; / The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Ps. 84:11).
…Thank You, God, that I come to you by entering before You as I receive the kingdom of Heaven with gratitude. Thank You, God, that when Heaven comes, the mountain of God comes down and Your holiness washes my body clean as you come (Heb. 12:22-24, 28). Thank You, God, that as the the holy mountain of God comes down (James 1:17), the mountain and kingdom crush demonic kingdoms here on earth: “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy” (Dan. 2:44-45). Heart, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. / The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you” (Rom. 16:20). And, speaking of Jesus, it says, “Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust” (Luke 20:18). So, I set my heart to receive the mountain of God and the kingdom of Heaven so that God can crush evil under my feet.
…I repent of figuratively trying to tie on plastic grapes so I can call it spiritual fruit. I am directing my heart to believe and live where Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing…My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples” (John 15:4,5,8).
…Strongly Lord, I am directing my heart (1 Sam. 7:3) to turn away from idolatry and the meaninglessness of living to the praise of my glory (Eph. 1:12). I delight that I can glorify God significantly by admitting my need and welcoming His presence. Lord, it is You that I praise. I love that the nearness of Your holiness is a strong shield of protection from temptation (Rom. 13:12, 14). It thrills my heart to love holy living more than my sin. Thank You, God, that I can be to the praise of Your glory by practical holiness in my life!
MORE
…Heart, “…the kingdom of God is…righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 14:17); and, “…we…receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” (Gal 3:14); so, I can be to the praise of God’s glory because receiving His presence and kingdom “…is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all…” (Rom. 4:16).
…Heart, I am telling my heart to believe and be intentional in enjoying the eternal significance and value of exalting God by my worship, dependence, and praise while before Him in the heavenly realms. Great motivation, drive, and energy are found by living with a goal of being to the praise of God’s glory (Eph. 1:12) instead of wanting to find reasons to praise my own human glory.
…Heart, treasure the truth that I am being to the praise of God’s glory when I abide in His presence and God produces the fruit (Hos. 14:8; . Related to receiving the presence of God so we can abide in Christ, it says, “This Jesus God raised up again…[and] having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.” (Acts 2:32,33); and, “He saved us…by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior” (Titus 3:5-6). So, to abide IN Him, we must receive what He is still pouring out His Spirit upon us because it says we “walk in Him” by continuing to receive as we did for salvation: “…as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” (Col. 2:6). So, heart, heart this and enjoy believing that to abide IN Christ, we must actively believe God is rewarding us with His presence because “…without faith it is impossible to please Him for he who comes to God must believe that…He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Heb. 11:6), and “…we…receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Gal 3:14).
…I love that by receiving the kingdom of Heaven and drinking from the radiant glory around God instead of from idolatry and sin, I am honoring God by helping righteousness and praise spring up before the nations: “For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations. For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet, until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, and her salvation like a torch that is burning. The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory…” (Isa. 61:11-62:2).
NEW BOOK
Barry Hall’s first book,
Receiving God’s Kingdom by Joyful Repentance, will help you to recognize the practical evidence of how we try to fill our need for God’s presence and kingdom with what we get from worldly substitutions, other
people, sinful behaviors, and ourselves. It explains that in doing this, we receive pride that we put on like a coat around us for identity. Without realizing it, we put faith in our pride and try to abide inside it for
protection, strength, and worth instead of receiving God’s kingdom and presence as needed. This book also explains repentance as a joyous process that changes our minds one step after another as we listen to ourselves,
making bold and joyous declarations of repentance and faith.
