Group 1 – Section 3

Believing Forgiveness and Receiving Cleansing

(Your name) , listen to what I am saying. Hear it, believe, love, and be thankful for the truth!

Heart hear this: God is good. It is evil that is evil! God is your friend! (pause and think of Him that way!)

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that forgiveness will never be earned by how bad I make myself feel—Lord, I love that “…You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive…” (Psa. 86:5). So I repent of holding back from God when I feel sinful or spiritually dirty somehow. Heart God is always “…good, and ready to forgive…” (Psa. 86:5).

…I turn my heart away from wanting to hold back from God until I think I deserve His forgiveness. I repent and turn away from wanting to earn or deserve the forgiveness of God. I am telling my heart to believe the grace of God where He gives me forgiveness because I confess my sin and trust Him to wash me clean (1 John 1:5, 7, 9)… (heart, believe it!)

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that when I feel sinful and dirty, I don’t have to hide from God. I am turning my heart to love the cleansing that flows from You, God. It is right for me to believe it. So, heart, believe that the cleansing of God is always available; “…cleansing their hearts by faith” (Acts 15:9). And I love the cleansing of God. I am turning my heart to receive it and love entrusting my holiness and protection to the nearness of God even now…

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that no matter what accusation or guilt the devil brings against me, I don’t have to wait for God to wash me clean. I repent of fear about presenting my dirtiness before God. Thank You God for forgiving me, for washing me with the Holy Spirit, and for making me holy.

…I humble myself from pride in thinking I should somehow deserve forgiveness. Heart, forgiveness will never be earned by the “good works” I do for God. I repent of trying to earn forgiveness. Heart, I am entrusting my well-being to God because we are “washed…in the Spirit of our God.” (1 Cor. 6:11); and are made holy “…by the sanctifying work of the Spirit… sprinkled with His blood…” (1 Peter 1:2). Heart, believe the grace of God to freely forgive me and cleanse by my believing Him to do it.

(Your name), IT IS WRITTEN: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). So when God forgives He also cleanses me, the forgiveness of God always comes with His washing me clean. Heart, God “…is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us….” (1 John 1:9).

Heart, “In Him we have…forgiveness… according to the riches of His grace…” (Eph. 1:7,8 ). So, the cleansing of God is NOT something I could ever earn. But I do have to believe God for it and trust Him to be washing me because we are “…washed…in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:11); “…cleansing their hearts by faith” (Acts 15:9).

…Heart, rejoice in the truth about God! I am grabbing my soul am I turn it from pride that makes me want to deserve the forgiveness and cleansing of God. It is correct, good, and safe for me to receive forgiveness and cleansing by faith in Him to pour out His Spirit onto me for cleansing… (pause to believe God is washing you with His Spirit!)

(Your name), The Bible says, “the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement” (1Jo 5:8). So God says, “…I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean…” (Eze. 36:25).

And we are “…washed…in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:11). It also says that “…the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1John 1:7). So, when God forgives He also washes me clean with the Holy Spirit that is the water of God and the blood of Christ all at the same time. I submit into believing the truth and am trusting that God is cleansing me by the radiance from around Him even now.

(Your name), God says to me that “…I will cleanse you…” (Eze. 36:25), and “I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, and your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you” (Isa. 44:22). So right now I am letting myself enjoy God cleansing me with the Holy Spirit, washing me all over.

… (Your name) , God wants me to be holy and righteous and God says that He does it, NOT me. So I turn my heart to believe where God says to me that “…I am the Lord who sanctifies you” (Lev. 20:8). It is God who makes me holy, “…by the sanctifying work of the Spirit…” (1 Peter 1:2). “washed…in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:11). Heart, my good behavior doesn’t make me clean! God does it because He says, “…I will cleanse you from all your filthiness…” (Eze. 36:25). So I am turning my heart to love presenting my sin before God so that He can wash me clean again. Thank You for Your forgiveness and for washing me clean!

…Heart, let yourself delight that I don’t have to justify or hide from the subtle sins of my heart. Lord, I love that You are so ready to forgive. So, I repent of wanting to feel like I deserve forgiveness from God. I repent for waiting to trust God for forgiveness because I want to pride myself on earning it!

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that I don’t have to hide from God when something is wrong even when I don’t know what it is. I repent of pride from thinking that I can hide myself. I turn to You Lord. I set my heart to love hiding myself in Your presence here with me God… (pause to intentionally love God’s presence!)

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that I don’t have to hide my need for forgiveness by holding back from God. Heart, I cut off and turn away from wanting God to submit to my demands. Heart, the Lord is God, NOT me. I rejoice in the truth that I am not justified by what I do or don’t do when compared to others—I turn my heart away from trusting myself. I am letting myself enjoy being cleansed by You right now, Lord. Thank You God for washing me and the atmosphere around me right now.. .

MORE

(Your name), listen to what I am saying. Let yourself believe, love, and be thankful for the truth!

…I delight that I don’t have to use pain and guilt to “buy” forgiveness from God. Lord, I love Your grace to forgive and wash me clean without my having to earn it. Lord, right now, I am thinking about Your Holy Spirit shining out from You, pressure washing me and making me holy; “…having our hearts sprinkled clean…and our bodies washed with pure water” (Heb. 10:19, 22)…

(Your name), the cleansing is real because God says, “I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me…” (Jer. 33:8); “…I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean..” (Eze. 36:25). “…by the sanctifying work of the Spirit… sprinkled with His blood…” (1 Peter 1:2). “…cleansing their hearts by faith” (Acts 15:9). I am “washed…in the Spirit of our God” for salvation, and after (1 Cor. 6:11; 1 John 1:5, 7). Thank you God that I CAN receive more of the Holy Spirit after salvation. And that happens every time you wash me!

Thank You God that after salvation I can draw nearer to You by trusting You to draw near to me here and when You come, You wash my body and heart clean (James 4:8). Thank You God that You cleanse me for salvation and after “by the washing of … the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior” (Titus 3:5-6).

(Your name), I submit into fully believing that God forgives me because I have faith that He is forgiving me. I love You, Lord! I am telling my heart to be confident about being entirely surrounded by the cleansing of God because “…God is Light…” (1 John 1:5) And, “…He wraps himself in light as with a garment;” (Psa. 104:1,2 NIV). And, “…if we walk in the Light…the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

(Your name), I don’t have to feel shame about getting close to God because the radiant fountain of God washes me clean, even my body: “…have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus…draw near…in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean…and our bodies washed with pure water” (Heb. 10:19 and 22).

We live as Christians in a world with evil in the air. Sometimes the sense of that evil is close enough to our physical flesh, that even as believers, we can be made to feel spiritually dirty. Heart, remember where it says of God that He makes us holy, “…I am the Lord who sanctifies you” (Lev. 20:8). He says

we are “…sanctified by faith in Me” (Acts 26:18). So, I set my heart to believe and enjoy trusting that God is washing me clean even now.

Heart, it is because we are not able to wash ourselves holy, that God says, “I will cleanse you…” (Eze. 36:25), and we are “…washed…in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:11); “In Him we have…forgiveness… according to…His grace…” (Eph. 1:7,8 ).

(Your name), when the enemy makes me feel dirty I present myself before God and He burns away the filth: “…the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion…by the spirit of judgement and the spirit of burning” (Isa. 4:4); Heart it is right to enjoy letting God wash me by burning away the filth. Thank you God for washing away the filth by the Spirit of judgement and burning. Thank You for that, God…

(Your name), I repent of wrapping myself in disbelief about God’s forgiveness and love. IT IS WRITTEN: “…the Lord loves His people…” (2 Chron. 2:11). And, I love You Lord. I love Your presence—and I set my heart to love Your presence with more and more freedom and joy all the time. I thank You God! Heart, it is safe for me to turn and make YOU my God because it says that “…the Lord your God…loves you.” (Deut. 23:5). So rest in His love because when God washes me holy it is EASY for Him to love me…

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that I don’t have to wait to be close to God. I am trusting His forgiveness and cleansing right now. I don’t have to wait until I find a reason why I deserve His forgiveness. I will not trust myself. Lord, I love Your grace to forgive me God… (pause to believe you ARE receiving right now!)

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that forgiveness is not earned by how bad I make myself feel—Lord, I love that You are so ready to wash me clean. And I am letting my heart enjoy it right now, Lord…

…I don’t have to hide from God when I feel that something is deeply wrong with me. Lord God, I am trusting You to touch me and wash my humanity with Your presence. I love Your power to wash away all reason to feel shame… (pause to let yourself feel confidence and to love His cleansing right now!)

…I turn from soothing myself with pride myself because of how bad I have made myself feel about sin. The kingdom of God is my glory. I “…receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken…” (Heb. 12:28). I delight that God’s kingdom comes to me and surrounds me with His power that heals and does miracles…

…Heart, rejoice in the truth that no matter how bad the devil tries to make me feel, I will trust God to wash me clean. I love Your forgiveness Lord… (pause to let yourself feel confidence because of the truth!)

(Your name) hear this, “…all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you” (Mark 11:24). So Lord, I humble myself and submit into believing that You don’t hold back from forgiving me, cleansing me, and making me completely clean. Heart, treasure the truth that God is “…faithful and righteous to forgive us…and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

MORE

(Your name), listen to what you are saying. Let yourself believe, love, and be thankful for the truth! Heart hear this: God is good. It is evil that is evil! God is your friend! (pause and think of Him

(Your name), my God does not hold the memory of my past against me. If I fall to temptation God is always ready to forgive me. “…You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive…” (Psa. 86:5). And God says, “…for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins” (Isa. 43:25). So it is NOT for my sake that He forgives. It is for His sake, “…I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake…” (Isa. 43:25).

(Your name), I am confident because IT IS WRITTEN: “I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.” (Isa. 43:25). (pause to hear it)

Heart, even when “Iniquities prevail against me; as for our transgressions, You forgive them” (Psa. 65:3).

“In Him we have…forgiveness…according to the riches of His grace…” (Eph. 1:7,8 ).

(Your name), I am secure in my relationship with God because “…your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake” (1 John 2:12). (pause to hear, believe, and love the God who is close!)

“For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You” (Psa. 86:5). (pause to hear, believe, and love the God who is close!)

“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.” (Mark 11:24). (pause to hear, believe, and love the truth!)

(Your name), I am confident and secure because God washes me inside and out. IT IS WRITTEN: “…draw near…in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean…and our bodies washed with pure water” (Heb. 10:19 and 22). I am confident about the cleansing power of my being “…washed…in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:11). God makes me holy because He says, “…I am the Lord who sanctifies you” (Lev. 20:8).

(Your name), by trusting He is drawing near, I can drink from God like a sponge from the radiance around Him. By this, I become a spring and a cistern for the LIVING water of God. And, even when something dirty is said or done by others around me, God keeps on washing me clean: “…unclean [things,]…whoever touches them…becomes unclean… Nevertheless a spring or a cistern collecting water shall be clean…” (Lev. 11:31-36). (pause to hear, believe, and love it as the truth!) “The afflicted and needy are seeking water, but there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst; I, the Lord, will answer them Myself…I will not forsake them. I will open rivers…and springs…I will

make…the dry land fountains of water.” (Isa. 41:17-18; see Isa 62:4 where it calls people “land”).

(Your name), I am confident and secure about drawing near to God because IT IS WRITTEN: “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out” (John 6:37); “…none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned” (Psa. 34:22). (pause to feel reassured, turn away from fear, and feel confidence from loving this truth!)

(Your name), “In Him we have…the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace…” (Eph. 1:7,8 ). (pause to believe and love God for that forgiveness!)

(Your name), I am confident because God has forgiven my sin—for His glory and His sake: “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; and deliver us and forgive our sins for Your name’s sake.” (Psa. 79:9) (pause to enjoy the truth that it isn’t for your sake that God forgives you!)

(Your name), I confess my sin to God, and He forgives me. I turn from holding back because it does NOT depend on whether I deserve it; “…your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake” (1 John 2:12). God forgives me freely because God is God. Our performance and pride is never enough to make us deserve the forgiveness of God!

(Your name), I stop my resisting and I rest into trusting the truth about the forgiveness of God because “…You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive…” (Psa. 86:5). (pause to feel safe because of it!)

(Your name), I rest into receiving the touch of the Spirit of God all around and in me here:

“…washed…in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:11). I love You Lord. Oh, I love Your presence!

Lord right now, I am stopping to trust and to think about Your radiant presence pressure washing me and filling my need… (pause to believe you are receiving that cleansing and let yourself love it!)

NEW BOOK

Barry Hall’s first book, Receiving God’s Kingdom by Joyful Repentance, will help you to recognize the practical evidence of how we try to fill our need for God’s presence and kingdom with what we get from worldly substitutions, other people, sinful behaviors, and ourselves. It explains that in doing this, we receive pride that we put on like a coat around us for identity. Without realizing it, we put faith in our pride and try to abide inside it for protection, strength, and worth instead of receiving God’s kingdom and presence as needed. This book also explains repentance as a joyous process that changes our minds one step after another as we listen to ourselves, making bold and joyous declarations of repentance and faith.
